Conrad Friedrich Hurlebusch was a well-known composer during the Baroque era. He was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1691 and began his musical career at the local St. Michaelis Church. Hurlebusch quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was soon appointed as the church's organist.

Hurlebusch's music was heavily influenced by the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The two composers were close associates and shared a mutual respect for each other's talents. Hurlebusch's music was characterized by its intricate counterpoint, complex harmonies, and a focus on polyphonic textures.

Hurlebusch wrote music for a variety of instrumental ensembles, including keyboard, orchestra, and vocal. His music was highly regarded for its innovative use of texture and its fresh approach to harmony. Among his numerous works, Hurlebusch is best known for his organ compositions, including his chorale preludes and fugues.

Apart from his musical pursuits, Hurlebusch was also known as a music teacher. He taught at the Johanneum Gymnasium in Hamburg, where he mentored several notable composers, including Johann Philipp Kirnberger and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, one of Johann Sebastian Bach's sons.

Despite his influence on the Baroque music scene, Conrad Friedrich Hurlebusch's music fell into obscurity following his death in 1765. It wasn't until the late 20th century that efforts were made to revive his works. Even now, his music is considered an important contribution to Baroque music and remains well-regarded by classical music enthusiasts.
