Full biography Jean-Baptiste Stuck
Jean-Baptiste Stuck was an Italian-French composer and cellist who lived from May 6, 1680 to December 8, 1755. He was known for writing arias for the performance of the opera L'innocente Inganno of Tomaso Albinoni , which premiered in Naples in 1706. Stuck started his music career in his hometown, Naples, and later worked in Florence, Venice, and Rome before settling in Paris in 1702.
In Paris, Stuck worked as a musician in the service of Countess Lemos. He eventually became known for his talents as a cellist and composer, and he performed his own works in front of King Louis XV and other members of the French court. Despite his accomplishments, Stuck's music fell into obscurity after his death.
Today, some of Stuck's compositions have been recorded and are available for purchase. His work is considered representative of the music of the late Baroque period and is appreciated for its intricate harmonies and formal structure.
