Jean-Baptiste Rey was a French conductor and composer, born on December 18, 1734, in Marseille, France. He studied music in his youth, and eventually became a conductor and composer for the Paris Opera. Among his most famous works are his operas, which include "Proserpine," "Astris," and "Iphigenie auf Tauris." He also completed Antonio Sacchini's opera "Arvire et velina" after the composer's death. Rey passed away on July 15, 1810, at the age of 75. His legacy is continued through his compositions and his contributions to the world of French opera and music in the 18th and early 19th centuries.
