Jan Antonin Losy (also known as Johann Anton Losy) was a Czech composer and lutenist who lived from 1650 to 1721. He was born into a wealthy family of Swiss origin and was trained in music from a young age. In addition to composition, Losy was also well-known for his virtuosic lute playing.

Losy's compositions are primarily works for solo lute, and his style is characterized by its virtuosity and expressive qualities. His music is considered an important example of the Czech Baroque style and has been praised for its technical and emotional complexity.

Despite his significant contributions to music during the Baroque era, Losy's music was largely forgotten in the centuries following his death. However, in recent years, there has been a renewed interest in his work, and his compositions have been recorded and performed by modern lutenists.

In addition to Losy's music, he is also notable for his connection to other prominent Baroque composers. He was friends with Silvius Leopold Weiss, another celebrated lutenist and composer, and Losy is said to have influenced Weiss's music. Losy was also acquainted with Johann Sebastian Bach, who is said to have admired Losy's lute playing.

Overall, Jan Antonin Losy was a significant figure in the world of Baroque music, known for his virtuosic lute playing and expressive compositions. Despite being largely forgotten for centuries, his music has experienced a resurgence in recent years and is now recognized as an important example of the Czech Baroque style.
