Hans Krasa was a Czech-born composer who was born on November 30, 1899, in Prague. He was a talented musician and began composing at a young age, with his first orchestral piece written when he was just eleven years old. Krasa was known for his melodic style of composition, and he once famously said that he was "sufficiently daring, as a modern composer, to write melodic music."

Krasa's life was tragically cut short when he was sent to the Terezin concentration camp in 1942. While at Terezin, he continued to compose music and even collaborated on an opera titled "Brundibar," which was performed by the children in the camp. The opera became a symbol of hope and resistance for the prisoners, and its performances were seen as an act of defiance against their captors.

Despite his tragic fate, the music of Hans Krasa has endured and continues to be performed and studied to this day. His compositions are known for their beautiful melodies and are seen as a testament to the power of music to inspire, uplift, and bring people together in even the darkest of times.
