Hans Kotter was a German/Swiss composer and organist who lived from 1480 to 1541. He studied with renowned organist and composer Paul Hofhaimer. Kotter is known for his compositions for organ and liturgical music. He composed a number of works including a second organ book (1522), without a name of author. He was regarded as a prolific composer and intabulator, as well as one of the significant organ composers of the Renaissance era.

Kotter was an important composer of his time, and his music was widely performed in churches throughout Europe. Some of his most notable compositions include "Salve Regina" for organ, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful works for the instrument from this time period.
