Full biography Girolamo Besozzi
Girolamo Besozzi was an Italian oboist and composer who lived from around 1695 to 1765. He was a member of the ducal chapel in Parma, Italy from 1728 to 1731, and later held positions in Venice and Dresden. Besozzi is known for his virtuosic oboe playing and for his compositions for the instrument, including concertos, sonatas, and chamber works. He was also a teacher, and his students included both his son, Alessandro Besozzi, and Johann Christian Fischer, who went on to become a prominent oboist and composer in Germany. Besozzi's music is characterized by its melodic beauty and technical demands, and his works for oboe are still studied and performed today.
