Remo Giazotto was an Italian composer, musicologist, and critic, born on September 4, 1910, in Rome, Italy. He is best known for his work in the field of the Baroque music era.

Giazotto spent much of his career researching Baroque-era works and its composers, particularly those of the likes of Italian composer Tomaso Albinoni. He was intrigued by Albinoni's work, specifically his famous Adagio, which he believed was largely lost over the years. In the early 20th century, Giazotto claimed to have discovered a simple musical fragment that was supposedly written by Albinoni himself, which he then used to build upon and reconstructed into a full-length Adagio suitable for a modern orchestra.

Giazotto's reconstruction of the Adagio became instantly popular, its lush harmonies and unforgettable melody captivating audiences across the globe. The Adagio in G minor with its heart-soothing melody and serene tone went on to catapult Giazotto's name into worldwide fame.

Aside from his work on the Albinoni Adagio, Giazotto composed several other works, including operas and symphonies, exploring themes that aimed to capture the essence of his homeland Italy.

Giazotto died on August 26, 1998, at the age of 87, but his legacy continues to live on through his music, with the Adagio in G minor remaining as his most widely recognized and celebrated composition.
