Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari (1759-1842) was an Italian composer and teacher known for his works in opera, ballet, and chamber music. Born in Roveredo, he studied with Giovanni Paisiello before embarking on a successful career as a composer and educator. Ferrari was highly regarded during his lifetime for his melodic and expressive style, which showed the influence of both the classical and romantic traditions. He composed numerous operas, including "Don Giovanni in Calabria" and "Il galantuomo di corte," as well as several ballets and chamber music pieces.

In addition to his compositional work, Ferrari was also known for his contributions to music education. He served as a professor of composition at the Naples Conservatory and wrote several treatises on music theory and composition. His pedagogical works, such as "Breve e facile metodo per apprendere a comporre" and "Nuovi elementi di musica pratica," were widely used in Italy and beyond.
