Friedrich Baumfelder was a German pianist and composer who lived from 1836 to 1916. He is known for his contribution to classical music in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Baumfelder was born in Dresden, Germany and showed an early aptitude for music. He studied at the Dresden Conservatory and was taught by prominent musicians of his time, including Julius Otto and Ferdinand Hiller. He later became a professor at the same institution.

Baumfelder is particularly known for his piano works, which were highly regarded in his time. His Bagatelle, Op. 386, is one of his most popular works and is still performed today. In addition to his solo piano works, he also composed chamber music and orchestral pieces.
