Frank Ticheli is an American composer born on January 21, 1958, in Monroe, Louisiana. He is known for his works in orchestral, choral, chamber, and concert band music. He is considered one of the most interesting and attractive contemporary composers. His Symphony No. 2 for concert band was praised by Lawrence A. Johnson, a reviewer for South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Being talented in both hearing and writing out music early in his life, Frank Ticheli started dictating music freely, which he believed was natural to any musician. But later he found out that it was unusual, and most musicians were not capable of doing it.

Frank Ticheli has composed many pieces, and some of his most notable works include An American Elegy, Earth Song, and Sanctuary. Earth Song highlights his interest in environmental issues and how it affects humanity emotionally. The poem in Earth Song was written by Frank Ticheli himself, showing his versatility in composing music and writing poetry.

In 2017, Frank Ticheli had the opportunity to visit the Pioneer Valley Regional School in Massachusetts to conduct one of his pieces. During the event, he shared his advice for aspiring composers, expressing the importance of writing a lot of music, even if they are not good.

Overall, Frank Ticheli is an accomplished composer who has left an indelible mark in the music industry with his exceptional compositions.
