Full biography emile Waldteufel
Emile Waldteufel was a French pianist, conductor and composer known for his numerous popular salon pieces , including waltzes. He was born on December 9, 1837, in Strasbourg into a musical family and studied with several teachers, including his father and the pianist Ignaz Moscheles. Waldteufel's most famous works include "The Skaters' Waltz" and "Les Patineurs," which were inspired by the skating-rink in Le Bois de Boulogne , Paris. He wrote hundreds of waltzes, and was a favorite composer of Empress Eugénie. Though less known than his contemporary Strauss II , Waldteufel was also an influential composer of dance music in the Romantic Era. Waldteufel died on February 12, 1915, in Paris but his legacy lives on, with his beautiful compositions continuing to be enjoyed by fans of classical music to this day.
