Ernest Walker was a prominent English composer, pianist, organist, and teacher who was born in Bombay, India on July 15, 1870. He was also a writer on music, and his career included composing, performing, and teaching music.

Walker's compositions were marked by their technical excellence and deep emotional expression. He was greatly influenced by the German Romantic tradition, particularly the music of Brahms and Schubert. Many of his works were for piano, but he also wrote for other instruments and ensembles.

In addition to his composing and performing, Walker was also a respected music teacher and taught at various institutions in the UK. He was also a writer on music and contributed articles and critiques to The Times and Manchester Guardian.

Sadly, Ernest Walker died on February 21, 1949, leaving behind an impressive body of work that continues to be celebrated today. His contributions to the world of music have earned him a place among the most esteemed English composers of his time.
