Edward Knight is an American composer, born on November 4, 1961, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is known for his works that move freely between jazz, theatrical, and concert music genres and do not fit into easy classifications. Some of his notable works include "Of Perpetual Solace," which he composed in collaboration with his wife to honor the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing, and his Concerto for Clarinet and Chamber Ensemble.

Knight began his musical training at the age of two and has won several awards for his works. He has worked with the enhakē ensemble and has been commissioned to compose new pieces by various organizations. The composer Hans Zimmer has praised Knight's work, and the two have worked together on projects.

In addition to his work as a composer, Knight has also been involved in teaching and mentoring young composers. He has served on the faculty of the Berklee College of Music and the Santa Fe University of Art and Design.
