He went on to study piano and composition at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he was mentored by renowned composer Ding Shande.
Du Mingxin's compositions are deeply rooted in Chinese tradition, and he blends classical Chinese music with Western musical elements to create a unique style. His early works incorporate Chinese folk songs and melodies and draw inspiration from ancient Chinese poetry and literature. Some of his most famous compositions include "The Yellow River Cantata," "Dance of the Yao People," and "The East is Red."
