Domenico Sarro (1679-1744) was an Italian composer who was known for his operas and church music. He was born in Trani, Italy, and showed an early talent for music. He studied with some of the leading composers of his time, including Francesco Provenzale and Alessandro Scarlatti.

Sarro started writing operas in the early 18th century, and became very famous for his works. He was the first composer to use a libretto by Pietro Metastasio for an opera. His most successful operas included "Achille in Sciro" and "L'Impresario delle Canarie".

In addition to his operatic works, Sarro composed a significant amount of sacred music. He served as the choirmaster of the Royal Chapel in Naples and wrote several masses, motets and oratorios.

Sarro's music is characterized by its simple, yet elegant, melodies and heartfelt expression. His works were popular in his lifetime and continued to be performed well into the 19th century.
