She studied music at the University of Birmingham and later received her master's degree at the Royal College of Music in London where she was mentored by Mark-Anthony Turnage. Bray has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting and original composers of her generation.

Bray's works range from solo works and chamber music to large ensemble and orchestral pieces. Some of her notable compositions include Bring Me All Your Dreams for piano (2019), In Black Light for viola (2018), Chapter Three for piano (2015-17), and Chapter Two for ensemble (2013-15).
