Carl Gottlieb Reissiger was a German Kapellmeister and composer who lived from January 31, 1798, to November 7, 1859. He was a prolific composer who wrote and published various forms of orchestral music , including symphonies, chamber music, and operas. Reissiger's music was greatly influenced by the Romantic era, and his compositions often feature rich harmonies, lyrical melodies, and lush orchestrations.

In addition to his work as a composer, Reissiger was also a Kapellmeister, or music director, for several prestigious orchestras in Germany, including the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. During his lifetime, Reissiger was considered one of the most prominent and respected composers of his time, and his works were performed throughout Europe.

Some of Reissiger's most famous compositions include the Piano Trio No. 15 in G Major, Op. 164 and the String Trio in C Minor, Op. 85, No. 2. His Danses brillantes, Op. 26, which includes the well-known piece "Weber's Last Waltz," is also a favorite among classical music enthusiasts.

While Reissiger's popularity waned after his death, his contributions to the world of music are still recognized today. Despite being overshadowed by composers such as Beethoven and Mozart, Reissiger's work remains an important part of the Romantic era's musical canon.
