Camille-Marie Stamaty was a French composer and pianist born in Paris, France, on March 23, 1811. He was of Greek descent and was the son of a violinist. Stamaty began his training at a young age, studying under many accomplished musicians from the Paris Conservatory.

Stamaty authored numerous works, most notably for the piano, and his virtuosic compositions were frequently played in the salons of Paris in the mid-1800s. His music was considered to be on the cutting-edge, with experimental harmonies and complex musical structures.

In addition to composing, Stamaty performed extensively throughout Europe, earning widespread recognition for his playing in Paris, London, and Berlin. Stamaty's playing was regarded as technically brilliant, with critics praising his exceptional finger technique and dexterity.

Stamaty's contributions to music were significant and paved the way for a new generation of pianists. Many of his compositions continue to be played and studied to this day, including the Concert Study Triple Etude in E-flat minor and The Art of Velocity.
