Beth Anderson is an American composer known for her work in both neo-Romantic and avant-garde styles. Born in 1950, Anderson has set the text of many American writers to music, including Dana Gioia, Eugene Field, David Mason, Countee Cullen, and Georgia Douglas Johnson, among others.

In addition to her work as a composer, Anderson has also taught music at various institutions, including the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Hunter College, and Parsons School of Design. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the American Music Center's Letter of Distinction, a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and a Meet-the-Composer grant.

Anderson has also been involved in various collaborative projects throughout her career, including "Harlem Songs," a set of songs based on the poetry of Langston Hughes. She has worked with performers and institutions such as Keith Borden, the Greenwich House Music School , and the Mannes College of Music.
