Full biography Bernhard Sekles
Bernhard Sekles was a German composer, pianist, and conductor who lived from 1872 to 1934. He studied music in Frankfurt and composition with Arnold Mendelssohn and Iwan Knorr. Sekles taught music theory and composition at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, where he founded a composition class in 1915 and taught notable composers including Paul Hindemith and Philipp Jarnach. He was a leading figure in the Frankfurt School of composition and was particularly known for his chamber music compositions. Additionally, Sekles was also an active performer and conductor. Some of his notable works include "Capriccio for Piano Trio" and "Divertimento for String Quartet". Although his music was once recognized as significant, it was later banned by the Nazi regime due to his Jewish heritage. Today, Sekles' music has been rediscovered and is once again being performed and studied by music enthusiasts and scholars alike.
