He is widely considered to be one of the greatest troubadours of the Middle Ages, and his music and poetry had a significant influence on troubadour and troubairitz traditions in southern France.

Bernart de Ventadorn was a nobleman by birth, but he spent much of his life traveling between various courts in France and Spain where he gained a reputation as a masterful singer and composer. His works were distinguished by their highly refined and sophisticated style, as well as their rich and emotional melodies.

Bernart de Ventadorn is particularly known for his love songs, which often depicted complicated and dramatic relationships between men and women. His works were often characterized by his use of complex vocal techniques and intricate harmonies, which made him one of the most technically skilled musicians of his time.

Although many of his compositions have been lost over time, several of his most famous works have survived and are still widely performed today. These include his songs “Can vei la lauzeta mover” and “Quan lo riu de la fontana”.
