Árpád Doppler was a Hungarian composer of the Romantic era, born on April 16, 1857, in Budapest, Hungary. He was the son of the well-known conductor Albert Doppler and the brother of the composer and conductor Franz Doppler. Árpád Doppler began his musical training in Budapest, where he studied with his father. Later, he continued his studies in Vienna with some of the prominent composers of the time, including Franz Liszt and Anton Bruckner.

Doppler's music was influenced by the works of Wagner, Liszt, and Strauss. He composed a significant number of works, including symphonies, chamber music, operas, and ballets. However, his most notable works were his orchestral pieces, with his "Hungarian State Opera Overture" being considered his most remarkable work.

Besides his composing work, Doppler was an important conductor in Hungary, where he worked as musical director of the Hungarian National Theatre and the Hungarian State Opera. He was also a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Despite his significant contributions to Hungarian music, Árpád Doppler's music remains relatively unknown outside of Hungary. His works, which showcased a significant amount of musical talent, deserve more recognition on the world stage. Árpád Doppler passed away in 1927, leaving behind a robust musical legacy that still holds merit over a century later.
