Angelo Tarchi was an Italian composer who lived from 1758 to 1814. He was known for his numerous operas as well as sacred music. Tarchi studied music under the guidance of several renowned composers including Francesco Antonio Uttini, Niccolò Piccinni, and Johann Adolf Hasse. Additionally, he took lessons from the composer Angelo Tarchi for three years.

Tarchi's career started in Venice in the late 1770s, where he wrote several operas. Later he moved to London, where he continued to write operas as a resident composer for a local opera company. During his time in London, he gained widespread recognition for his operatic works, including his early opera "Gli stravaganti" and his opera seria "Armida".

Aside from operas, Tarchi also composed sacred music, including requiems and masses. However, his sacred music works are not as well-known as his operas. In addition to music composition, Tarchi also worked as a music teacher in several cities including London and St. Petersburg.

Today, Tarchi's operas are seldom performed, but they are still recognized as examples of the classical Italian opera style. Several of his operas are preserved in various libraries and archives across Europe, including his opera seria "Zenobia" and his buffa opera "La scuola di ballo".
