Aloys Fleischmann (Senior) was a renowned Irish composer, conductor, and musicologist who was born on June 22, 1910, in Munich, Germany. He moved to Cork, Ireland, at the age of ten, where he spent the rest of his life. Aloys came from a family of musicians, as his father was also a composer.

Aloys Fleischmann developed his musical skills at an early age and studied at the Cork School of Music. He later studied under well-known composers such as Paul Hindemith and Max Deutsch. He also worked as a music teacher at University College Cork, where he taught music composition, theory, and orchestration. He remained a faculty member at the University until his retirement in 1979 when he was eventually appointed emeritus professor.

Fleischmann was an active composer throughout his life and composed a diverse range of music, including operas, symphonies, and chamber music.
