Alfred Quidant was a French pianist and composer who lived from 1815 to 1893. He was also a music teacher, and is known for his contributions to salon music. Quidant was a contemporary of other notable French composers such as Charles-Valentin Alkan and Camille Saint-Saëns.

During his lifetime, Quidant composed a number of pieces for solo piano as well as chamber music. One of his most well-known works is his "Souvenir de Naples," a series of pieces for piano that draw on popular Neapolitan melodies. He also wrote music for the stage, including a one-act opera called "Le Nid d'Amour" that premiered in 1852.

In addition to his work as a composer, Quidant was also an accomplished pianist and performed frequently throughout France. He was known for his skill in playing virtuosic pieces, and was praised for his technical precision and musical expression.

Today, Quidant's music is not as well-known as the work of some of his contemporaries, but his contributions to French salon music are still appreciated by those who study the music of the period.
