Abraham van den Kerckhoven was a Flemish composer who lived during the Baroque period. Not much is known about his early life or education, but historical records indicate that he was active as a musician in Antwerp, Belgium, in the mid-1600s. Van den Kerckhoven was a versatile composer who wrote music for various instruments, including the organ, harpsichord, and violin.

Van den Kerckhoven's style was influenced by some of the great composers of his time, including Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and Girolamo Frescobaldi. His music is characterized by its intricate counterpoint, rich harmonies, and complex rhythmic structures. Despite his talents, van den Kerckhoven was not as well-known as some of his contemporaries, and much of his music has been lost over time.

One of van den Kerckhoven's most significant achievements was the publication of his "Harpsichord Book of Anna Maria", a collection of keyboard music dedicated to the archduchess of Austria. The book contains a variety of pieces, including preludes, fugues, and toccatas, some of which were inspired by popular dance forms of the time, such as the allemande and the courante.

Van den Kerckhoven's legacy as a composer may have been overshadowed by his contemporaries, but his contributions to the development of Baroque music are noteworthy. Today, his surviving works are still performed and appreciated by audiences around the world.
