Triangle note heads can be useful when writing for percussion instruments or differentiating between different kinds of strike styles. Circled notes are also often used in percussion, and can again indicate the use of cross-stick on a drum kit, or to bring certain notes to the musician's attention.

A or La is the sixth note and the tenth semitone of the fixed-do solfège. Its enharmonic equivalents are B♭♭ (B double flat) which is a diatonic semitone above A♭ and G.

At the far right, a line over or under the body of a single note means it is to be played tenuto or held to its full value. A single dot above or below the body of a note means it's staccato, or short and separate. Even the word staccato sounds edgy and precise. It's very much the opposite of tenuto.

HARMONICS HARMONICS. Harmonics are represented by diamond-shaped notes in the standard notation and a small dot next to the tablature numbers. Natural harmonics are indicated with the text “Harmonics” or “Harm.” above the tablature.

The triangle shaped notes correspond to the secondary lyrics. So it's either a second verse, where you play and sing the normal notes and upper lyrics at the first run, and the triangle notes and the lower lyrics at the second run.

In the unfoldment of geometric symbolism the Triangle follows the Circle and precedes the Square: CIRCLE – unity, oneness, wholeness – the source and the origin of everything, aka God. TRIANGLE – a dynamic force of creation – Creative Spirit.

note tremolo January 26, 2005 at 07:23 AM · If, by squiggly lines, you mean that the stem of the note has three diagonal bars through it, then it means to play the note tremolo, which is usually done close to the tip.

It's a tremolo. It means alternating pitches like a trill, except a trill is always a step up and a tremolo can be any interval in either direction. This one is a step down from the starting pitch. The number of lines represents the beams if they were beamed notes.

Diamond Shapes Round diamonds for traditional romance. Pear shaped diamonds for the strong individual. Radiant shape for trendy, flirty types. Princess shape for the bold woman.

The diamond notehead appears black/filled when the note is a quarter note or shorter, and white/unfilled when the note is a half note or longer. Usually indicates the touched pitch required. Used for natural harmonics on fretted instrument notation staves by default.
