Spanish music is often associated with traditional styles such as flamenco and classical guitar. While these forms of music are common, there are many different traditional musical and dance styles across the regions.

Spain has a rich history and diverse folk music traditions. The two best known musical genres from Spain are Flamenco and Celtic music, although Spain has many other musical styles and dances throughout its mainland and island regions.

The Spanish education system consists of 5 levels – preschool, primary (elementary), secondary, higher education preparation and higher education (university). This guide will focus more on children's education between ages 6 to 16. In Spain, only primary and secondary education is mandatory.

In Spain, "school" is often translated as "colegio" (IPA: /koˈle. xjo/). This word can also refer to primary and secondary schools. In Latin America, "colegio" usually refers to a private high school. Instead, they use "escuela" to refer to any school from kindergarten to high school.

At public secondary schools, students study core subjects – including mathematics, science, Spanish, and a first foreign language – as well as several other specific and optional subjects. These include business, culture, music, religion or ethics, physical education, and a second foreign language.

Rancheras. Also known as the canción ranchera, rancheras is a genre of popular music in Mexico. Developing as a modern genre in the post-1910 revolution period, when many rural Mexicans moved to the cities, rancheras derived from folk and country songs.

Castanets may be the national instrument of Spain, but they were actually invented over 3000 years ago by the Phoenicians for religious ceremonies.
