Short bio Winfried Zillig
Full biography Winfried Zillig
Winfried Zillig was a German composer, actor, and writer born on April 1, 1905, in Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany. He was known for composing the music for the film "Jonas" and was a part of the Second Viennese School, which comprised Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Anton Webern, and their pupils.
During the Nazi era, Zillig's career was flourishing, and he was widely regarded as one of the most promising composers of the time. However, it is worth mentioning that his career under the Nazis has been a subject of controversy and scrutiny, as he collaborated with the regime and wrote music that adhered to their ideology.
Adorno's writing on Zillig has been debunked in 2002, which suggests that some of his work may have been unfairly criticized. Zillig has also worked on Karl Amadeus Hartmann's "Miserae," which was written to protest against Nazi Germany.
Apart from composing, Zillig was also an actor and writer. He passed away on October 24, 1963, at the age of 58 in Munich, Germany. Throughout his career, Zillig created music that combined traditional harmonies with modern techniques, making his music stand out in the contemporary music scene of his time.
