Walter Hekster (29 March 1937 - 31 December 2012) was a Dutch composer , clarinetist, and conductor of classical music, specializing in contemporary classical music. He was known for his experimental and innovative style of music, which often pushed the boundaries of traditional classical music.

In 1987, Hekster collaborated with the American poet and writer Lewis Turco on a chamber opera titled "The Fog", which was published in Holland. The opera showcased Hekster's unique style of music and demonstrated his ability to seamlessly blend different musical elements together to create a cohesive and compelling piece.
