Vittoria Aleotti, also known as Raffaella Aleotti, was a renowned composer during the late Renaissance era. She was born in Ferrara, Italy, around 1575, and spent most of her life there. Aleotti came from a musical family, and her father, Giovanni Battista Aleotti, was a well-known musician in Ferrara.

Aleotti was part of the noble court of Ferrara and was closely associated with the Este family. In fact, her father was the music director for the Duke of Ferrara, Alfonso II d'Este. It is believed that Aleotti's musical training was influenced by her father, who was also a composer.

Vittoria Aleotti is particularly remembered for her sacred vocal music compositions, which were highly regarded during her lifetime. Her most famous work is a collection of motets, which were published in 1593. The collection, titled "Concerti Ecclesiastici," included pieces for different parts, including soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, and was dedicated to the Duchess of Mantua, Vincenza Gonzaga.

Aleotti's music was notable for its harmonic complexity, with rich and intricate vocal lines woven together to create an emotional and profound impact. Her music was often performed during religious services, and it is believed that she was a nun in the convent of Santa Maria Annunciata in Ferrara.
