Thomas Frederick Dunhill (1877-1946) was an English composer, pianist, teacher, examiner, and writer on musical subjects. He was born in Hampstead, north London, and showed early promise as a pianist and composer. Dunhill attended the Royal College of Music , London, where he studied composition with Hubert Parry.
Dunhill's music is characterized by his love of melody, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of form. His compositions include orchestral works, chamber music, and musical theatre. Among his most popular songs are "The Cloths of Heaven" and "The Fiddler of Dooney," which were set to poems by W.B. Yeats. He also wrote a Piano Quintet in C minor , Op. 20, which highlights his skills as a pianist.
