Therèse Brenet was a French composer, born on June 23, 1935, in Bordeaux, France. She was brought up in a musical family, and her father was a composer and a pianist. Brenet studied music in Bordeaux and later went to Paris to further her studies.

Throughout her career, Brenet has composed music for various performers, orchestras, and ensembles. She has written in different genres, including opera, ballet, symphonies, chamber music, and vocal music. Brenet's works are known for their lyrical, colorful, and harmonious structure.

Brenet received numerous awards, including the Grand Prix of the International Music Festival of Besançon, the Prix de la Ville de Paris, and the Grand Prix de la SACEM. She was also a professor of composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she taught many famous composers.

Brenet's works have been performed all over the world, and she is considered one of the most important French composers of the twentieth century. Her music reflects her passion for literature, and some of her works are based on poems by Charles Baudelaire, Edgar Allan Poe, and Federico Garcia Lorca.
