Tekla Bądarzewska-Baranowska was a composer from Poland who lived during the 19th century. She was born in 1834 in Węgrów, Poland and was from a family of musicians. She grew up in a musical environment and was encouraged by her parents to develop her interest in music.

Bądarzewska-Baranowska is best known for her piano composition titled "The Maiden's Prayer" which was first published in 1856. It became an instant hit and was widely popular in both Europe and America. The piece is known for its delicate melody and romantic charm. It was played by many great pianists of the time, such as Franz Liszt, and has remained popular to this day.

While "The Maiden's Prayer" brought her fame, Bądarzewska-Baranowska was also an accomplished composer of other piano works, including polonaises, mazurkas, and waltzes. She was also a prolific composer of songs and choral pieces.

Despite her talent and success, Bądarzewska-Baranowska's life was not without difficulties. She faced discrimination as a woman in the male-dominated music industry of her time. She was also plagued by health problems which eventually led to her premature death at the age of 29.
