Svitlana Azarova is a Ukrainian composer born in Kyiv in 1976. She received her Master's degree in Composition from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts in 1999 and continued her studies at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and the Rotterdam Conservatory in the Netherlands.

Azarova's works have been performed across Europe, Asia, and North and South America, and she has collaborated with ensembles such as the Nieuw Ensemble, Asko Schönberg Ensemble, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. She has also received numerous awards and prizes for her compositions, such as the Gaudeamus Music Prize in 2003 and the Ukrainian National Prize for Culture in 2015.

Azarova's music is characterized by a combination of intense emotional expression and technical virtuosity, often incorporating elements of Ukrainian folk music and literary themes. Some of her notable works include "The Night Is Darkening Round Me," a song cycle based on poems by Emily Bronte, and "VII Days of Creation," a symphony for soloists, choir, and orchestra.
