Siegfried Strohbach (27 November 1929 – 11 July 2019) was a renowned German composer and conductor. He was well-known for founding and directing choirs and vocal ensembles, including the Collegium Musicum Göttingen, which he established in 1958. Strohbach composed a wide range of music, including choral music, orchestral works, chamber music, songs, and church music.
Throughout his career, Strohbach won several prestigious awards and honors, including the Lower Saxony State Prize for Music in 1960 and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1990. He was also a professor of music at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin from 1981 to 1995.
Strohbach's works have been widely performed and recorded, and his legacy lives on through his compositions and his influence on the choral music community in Germany. Some of his notable works include "Oratio Nocturna", "Lob der Musik", and "Missa Santi Michaelis Archangeli".
