Sidney Corbett is an American-German composer and professor of music. He was born on May 15, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Tennessee. Corbett received his education at the University of Tennessee, the University of Illinois, and privately with composers Brian Ferneyhough and Helmut Lachenmann.

Corbett's music is characterized by a distinctly modernist aesthetic, steeped in complex rhythms and harmonies. His works often feature extended techniques and unconventional sound explorations, and he has been known to experiment with different instrumentations and soundscapes.

He has composed works for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, as well as symphony orchestras. Notable works include "...ma non troppo e molto cantabile..." for piano, "Gesualdo transfixed" for string quartet, "The Ballade of Blaník" for wind ensemble, and "Les yeux d'Elsa" for chamber ensemble.

Corbett has also been involved in teaching and mentoring younger composers. He served as a professor of composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria from 2007 to 2012 and has given master classes throughout Europe and the United States.
