Servaes De Koninck was a Flemish composer born in Antwerp, Belgium on May 25, 1924. He started his musical education at a young age, studying at the Royal Flemish Conservatoire. Later on, he went on to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels under the tutelage of Karl Candael.

De Koninck was a prolific composer, focusing mainly on vocal music, and worked with the genres of cantatas, operas, choral music, and songs. He employed wide-ranging harmonies and experimental sound structures in his works, drawing inspiration from both modern and ancient music. He was known for using Belgian poetry in his compositions, often collaborating with renowned poets such as Paul van Ostaijen and Willem Elsschot.

His notable works include "Chansons d'un fou," "Achilles Cantate," "La fille au pair," and "Aeneas in Carthage." He also composed music for various theater productions, with his operas being performed in both Belgium and the Netherlands.

De Koninck was a prominent member of the Flanders Festival in the 1950s and 1960s, and his work was featured in several of the Festival programs. He was also a professor at the Antwerp Conservatory, where he taught composition.

De Koninck passed away on June 22, 1996, leaving behind a significant legacy in the world of Flemish music. His music continues to be performed and studied to this day, inspiring a new generation of composers with his creative and innovative approach to composition.
