Ruben Liljefors (born September 30, 1871, in Uppsala, Sweden) was a Swedish composer, pianist, and conductor. He received his musical education in Leipzig and was known for his work as a conductor for the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, which is one of the oldest orchestras in Sweden. He also taught music and wrote music criticism.
Liljefors is the son of another Swedish composer and conductor, named Ingmar Kristian Liljefors. He composed various music works during his career and made significant contributions to the music industry. Unfortunately, Liljefors passed away on March 4, 1936, at the age of 64.
Throughout his life, Liljefors composed many works, including concertos for the violin, viola, and cello, in addition to other pieces of chamber music. Some of his compositions also received orchestration from famous composers like Arnold Schönberg, who arranged a version of Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartet that was conducted by Liljefors in 1931. Liljefors' works have been praised for their lyrical and perceptive qualities.
