Roger Goeb (1914-1997) was an American composer who was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He studied music at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and later at the Cleveland Institute of Music. After completing his studies in the United States, Goeb attended the Paris Conservatory in France, where he studied composition with Nadia Boulanger and counterpoint with Marcel Dupré.

Goeb's music is characterized by its use of traditional forms and structures, and his works often incorporate elements of jazz and other popular music styles. He also utilized dissonant harmonies and complex rhythmic patterns in his music.

During his career, Goeb composed numerous works for orchestra, including three symphonies, as well as concertos for various instruments, chamber music, choral works, and music for film and television. He was a recipient of several awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Despite his contributions to American music, Goeb's work is not as well-known as that of some of his contemporaries, such as Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. However, his compositions have been performed and recorded by many distinguished musicians and ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Roger Goeb passed away in 1997 at the age of 82. Although he may not be a household name, his work as a composer continues to be recognized and celebrated by those in the classical music community.
