Short bio Robert Beaser
Full biography Robert Beaser
Robert Beaser (1954-2023) was an American composer who was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He was known for his lyricism in music, which won international acclaim since the 1980s. Beaser spent his youth in a nearby town in Massachusetts before attending Yale University and later, the New England Conservatory of Music.
Beaser was extensively involved in various music organizations such as Meet the Composer program, where he worked with the American Composers Orchestra. He was also the chairman of the composition department at the Juilliard School. However, in December 2022, allegations of sexual misconduct led to his suspension and eventual firing in June 2023 from Juilliard and five other organizations, including the Aspen Music Festival and School.
Despite the controversy surrounding his legacy, Robert Beaser left a significant impact on the world of classical music, particularly in the genre of orchestral and choral music. His notable works include his Symphony No.1, The Heavenly Feast, and "The Seven Deadly Sins."
Robert Beaser passed away in 2023, leaving behind a rich body of work and a legacy that will continue to impact the classical music world.
