Richard Ayleward (1626 - 15 October 1669) was an English composer , musician, organist, and harpsichordist. He is known for his contributions to the repertoire of Anglican church music , particularly his choral compositions.

Ayleward's works were often performed at the coronations of English monarchs, including an anthem he wrote for the coronation of Charles II. He was also a prolific composer of choral music and his compositions were featured in many church services.

In addition to his compositions , Ayleward was known for his skills as an organist and harpsichordist. He served as the organist of St. John's College in Oxford and later as the organist and harpsichordist for the Chapel Royal.

Despite his relatively short life, Ayleward left a significant impact on English music of the time. His works continue to be performed and studied by musicians and scholars today.
