Ramon Sender Barayn, born on October 29, 1934, in Madrid, is a Spanish composer, visual artist, and writer. He is the co-founder, along with Morton Subotnick, of the San Francisco Tape Music Center. Sender has made notable contributions to the development of electronic music and was one of the pioneers of the American counterculture movement of the 1960s. He played a significant role in the emergence and popularization of the electronic music genre, using synthesizers to create unique and innovative sounds.

Sender collaborated with various artists, including Stan Brakhage, Simone Forti, Terry Riley, and Pauline Oliveros, to name a few. His works have been performed in prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Pompidou Center in Paris, among others. Sender has also published several books, including "Being of the Sun" and "A Death in Zamora," which showcase his talent as a writer.
