Princess Amalie of Saxony was a remarkable composer of the late 18th century. She was born on September 10, 1724, in Dresden, Germany, and was the daughter of Augustus III of Poland and Maria Josepha of Austria. Amalie grew up in a family that was inclined towards music, so it came as no surprise that she would end up pursuing music as well.

Amalie's interest in music started at an early age, and she received a musical education under the tutelage of Italian composer Johann Adolf Hasse. Through constant practice and dedication, she became a skilled harpsichordist, singer, and composer. Her compositions were mainly chamber music compositions and featured a distinct Rococo style.

Her works are characterized by their intricate structures, graceful melody lines, and use of ornate embellishments and improvisatory passages. Amalie's most significant contributions to music include her piano trio in E-flat major, which remains a popular piece to this day.

Despite her success as a composer, Amalie never pursued music as a career. Instead, she dedicated most of her life to religious endeavors. She was a devout Catholic and devoted much of her time to religious works, including founding and managing convents. Her commitment to the church is evident in her Church compositions, which included Stabat Mater and Benedictus.
