Pietro Generali (1773-1832) was an Italian composer of the early 19th century. He was born in Bologna and studied music there before moving to Venice, where he became the music director at the Teatro San Benedetto. He went on to hold similar positions at the Teatro Valle in Rome and the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, where he lived for much of his life.

Generali was a prolific composer, particularly of opera, and is said to have written over sixty works in this genre. His operas were performed in many of the major Italian theaters of the time, and he was known for his use of contemporary literary sources and his skillful use of orchestration. Some of his better-known works include "Emma d'Antiochia," "Il conte di Saldagna," and "La contessa di colle erbose."

Generali was also a respected teacher of music , and his students included well-known composers such as Saverio Mercadante and Giovanni Pacini. In addition to music, Generali had an interest in literature and was a friend of the Italian poet Giuseppe Gioachino Belli.

Despite his success during his lifetime, Generali's music fell out of favor in the 19th century and is now largely forgotten. However, his contributions to the development of Italian opera during the early 19th century are still recognized, and his work continues to be studied and performed by scholars and musicians today.
