Pieter van der Staak (May 25 , 1930 - November 2, 2007) was a Dutch classical guitarist, composer, and professor of music. He was born in The Hague, Netherlands, and was a self-taught guitarist until he started studying at the Zwolle Conservatory with the Dutch guitarist and composer, S. de Jong. Later on, he continued his studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Van der Staak was a prominent composer of music for the guitar, and he combined his interest in writing for the guitar with his knowledge of the instrument as a performer.

Van der Staak wrote many pieces for classical guitar in various ensembles, including solo, duos, trios, quartets, and even orchestra. His music was characterized by its lyrical and sensitive nature, influenced by the great composers of the past. His compositions were published by various publishers, including Broekmans & Van Poppel.

Pieter van der Staak was also known as a professor of music , and he taught at the Zwolle Conservatory for many years, where he inspired and educated many students, several of whom have become successful musicians themselves.
