Pierre de Manchicourt (c. 1510-1564) was a French composer of the Renaissance period. He is known for his sacred vocal music, specifically his motets, which were widely performed and highly regarded during his lifetime.

Manchicourt was born in the town of Béthune and began his music education in Arras. He later studied with the renowned Dutch composer Adrian Willaert in Venice. This experience had a profound influence on Manchicourt's music, as it introduced him to the new musical style of the Renaissance period that was emerging in Italy at the time.

After his studies in Venice, Manchicourt held several music-related positions in France and the Low Countries, including positions at the court of Emperor Charles V and the Burgundian court in Brussels. In 1559, he became the maestro di cappella at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Tournai, a position he held until his death in 1564.

Manchicourt's music is characterized by its clarity, balance, and elegance. He often used imitative polyphony, a technique where different voices echo each other in a canon-like fashion, in his compositions. His motets were particularly popular during the late Renaissance period, as they displayed a deep connection to the text and conveyed a strong sense of religious expression.

Some of Manchicourt's most famous works include "Regina caeli laetare," "O sacrum convivium," and "Ne reminiscaris, Domine." His music continues to be performed and recorded to this day, cementing his reputation as an important figure in Renaissance music.
