Full biography Philippe Verdelot
Philippe Verdelot was a French composer who lived during the Renaissance period in Italy. He was born in 1480 in Les Loges, France. He moved to Italy in the early 16th century, where he spent most of his career as a composer in Florence, Rome, and Venice.
Verdelot was known for his Madrigals, which he composed for two or more voices. His music was popular throughout Italy and France during his time. His compositions were characterized by their elegance, clarity, and the expressiveness of their texts. Verdelot's music was also known for its sensuous qualities, which were influenced by the influence of Flemish and French chansons.
Verdelot was among the first composers to use chromaticism in his works. He also played an important role in the development of the Italian madrigal, which later became one of the most popular forms of music in Europe.
Verdelot's Madrigali a quattro voci, published in 1536, was one of the most important collections of the time. It contained some of his most famous compositions, including "Dolce Beato Risvegliar," "Non mai non cangia" and "Italia mia."
