Peter Matz (November 6 , 1928 - August 9, 2002) was an American musician, composer, arranger, and conductor. He is well-known for his contributions to the music industry, particularly in film, theater, and television.
Matz began his career as a conductor for the Radio City Music Hall, where he worked with some of the biggest names in the industry at the time. He went on to become a sought-after arranger and composer, working on a number of famous productions, including Broadway musicals, concert and cabaret acts , and television shows.
Matz is perhaps best known for his work with Barbra Streisand, with whom he worked on several projects. His collaborations with Streisand earned him both an Emmy and a Grammy award. However, Matz worked with a number of other famous artists throughout his career, including Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, and Frank Sinatra.
In addition to his work as a composer and arranger, Matz also served as a teacher. He frequently taught seminars and was on the faculty of the USC School of Music. Matz also wrote and performed music with his wife, Marilynn Lovell.
Peter Matz's contributions to the music industry are still appreciated to this day, and he is remembered as a talented and influential figure in the field.
